I am interested in how using a digital camera in the classroom can enhance learning for all ages. First of all, I realize the cost for cameras may be too high for many schools to provide at this time. However, I believe that as they become more affordable, and as educators share and demonstrate the many applications and advantages of how the camera can be used as an effective learning tool, more and more schools will make them available and teachers from all subject areas will be using them. Any tool that helps to engage our students is a tool worth learning about and using!
As you can imagine there are numerous sites that are related to this topic. One site I found,

Digital Photography is not only used for art expression, but is a valuable tool used in teaching math, science, and english classes. It is a tool that can enhance learning with practical applications such as documentation in a science project or can be used in a fun way to make a creative writing project more meaningful.

JMV Blog post # 2
I found an interesting site www.techlearning.com/blog/ with
articles written by different educators. I read comments on the articles that interested me most. On Ma ma, let your babies grow up to be designers, the comments were often supportive giving the author encouragement for what he was doing. On another article Local, Global, or Glocal, comments were offering insight to the ideas presented.
In my oppinion blog comments are a means for sharing oppinions and ideas, as well as offering support, or arguments for the writer to view think about. Comments may be valuable to the writer or other readers, but also may just be another way for people to express themselves.
One of the greatest values I see in Blogging is that it offers another way to collaborate, and build bridges between people both locally and globally. In the article Local, Global, or Glocal there is a disscussion generated on this subject that I hope you have a chance to read. The concept of Glocal is very thought provoking. I posted my comment under that article which can be found at the techlearning address above. I guess due to the time difference the date of the my post showed Feb 12 7:02am, a day later.

Do you have any creative ideas to share?
One blog site I found called Gingerpixel.com interested me because it celebrated creativity in the classroom with beautiful photographs of students engaged in a creative activity. (see Creativity in the Classroom 2) Their assignment was to decorate a plain matchbox then put something inside that represented themselves.
I found this project idea valuable since it provides an example of an activity that was both meaningful, and creative to students. The photographs do a great job in capturing the joy of creativity, whereby the students were able to express themselves in a new, creative way. As a future educator, I hope to engage students in the creative process, and to document their projects with photographs that capture the feeling of the creative process as these did..
